It’s starting to be that time of year again. My favourite time. Autumn. Or Fall if you’ve ever lived in the States or Canada.

I love the colours, the clothes, the leaves, the mess in the garden everything about it.

A couple of years ago my sister came back from the states and declared she was going to host a Friendsgiving dinner every November for the craic. So we’ve started embracing the Thanksgiving, Fall traditions in our house. We embrace these things with gusto!

This year inspired by Stacey Soloman and her BFF Mrs Hinch I’ve decided to do a fall porch. My little house has a dainty little porch. I did briefly suggest to the builder to remove the bracket that holds it up when we were renovating earlier in the year but they talked me out of it and now I want to celebrate this feature. I’ll document it later.

Now I’m aiming for something a bit more subtle than this. It might look out of place in Fernbank, especially the hay. We are pretty far from any farm land.

So,  what to buy for the autumnal enthusiast? You cant go wrong with a pumpkin. They are so very much in season at this time of year. It’s a gift that keeps on giving, You can look at it, carve it. You can eat it’s insides in pie, soup and a number of tasty reciepes and feed several animals with it’s caracass. A bit brutal but it is true!

If you are looking for an all rounder gift this is it? Better than a bunch of flowers in my book anyway!

They are only 99 cent for little gourds (That’s the type of vegetable that pumpkins are.) and they come in a variety of colours, shapes and sizes.
